Begin by going to the Inventory Form View and clicking the New Product icon in the toolbar. A package is created in inventory by setting the Inventory Type to Assembly. The very first field in the form view is Inventory Type, which if clicked, will list the different types of items that can be added to inventory. Select Assembly to set the type - this will open a new tab in the middle of the screen for adding products (where the product sales graph displays).

Fill in the required fields for adding a new package to inventory: Product Code, Description, Department, Cost and Retail. Since this is an item made up of other products in inventory, it is not necessary to set the Supplier, Supplier #, QOH, nor Reorder Method. (If the required fields are not all filled in, the assembly detail records may not save).

Save the product record by clicking the Save icon in the toolbar. The next step is to bring this newly created assembly item and each product that is going into this package up in the Inventory Search screen. With all of the products up in the search screen, highlight all of the rows except for the assembly item. Now on the Retail Operations tree menu to the left, click the Form View link beneath Inventory.

If done properly, a window should pop up on the search screen asking if editing is being done on the assembly item or on one of the selected products. Click the Yes button to go into the Assembly item on the form view.

*If the assembly item was created prior to the current date, first go into the form view for the existing assembly item. Then go back to the inventory search screen, select the products being added to the package and click on the form view link in the tree menu. The question will then prompt to specify whether the assembly item is being edited or one of the selected products.

In the bottom of the assembly window, click the small green Add icon. This will add all of the selected items on the search into the assembly window. Similiarly, clicking the small red X icon will remove the highlighted product from the package.
